Lilacs are safely bred to Chocolates, also to Otters, Himi, Tans and Martens to produce the Lilac version of those varieties.

Lilacs bred to Lilacs or Blue often results in lighter fur color than is desirable. Breeders occasionally use Blacks with Lilacs to retain the deep dark color.
