FLYING BUNNIES - YES WE SHIP

I get many people who have contacted me expressing their want for a Dwarfs, but who live out of our general area geographically.

Below is some basic information about flying bunnies !!

Its expensive if your looking for a pet.

If your not in the Western US.. (I'm in Washington).....that would mean shipping. We have shipped several times to different places in the US without ever having any problems. I prefer to use Continental, Alaska Air or NW Airline if possible. Continental's "Quik Pac Service" accepts live animal counter to counter *not cargo!*, and NW offers a VIP Same Day Package Service that accepts rabbits. We can ship regardless of temperatures but it is at added expense.

Costs you would be expected to pay up front include...

1.) Airfare...
Generally I make reservations with the airlines. Some airlines will accept COD orders and others will not. Total airline fee depends on size and weight of the carrier with rabbits. $65-$165

2.) Carrier...
Airline approved w/ food & water crocks....
An airline approved 2-6 hole carrier is about $24/$40. You can save this cost by sending me a carrier UPS. It must have a leak proof bottom, solid lid and walls, and have water crocks.

3.) Health certificate......
To ensure each rabbit is fit to travel, I will obtain a health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian, dated within 10 days prior to travel. My vet will put multiple buns (up to 6) on one slip for about $35.

4.) Rabbits.....
Average prices are,
$35-$45 for pets with no papers(unshowable for some reason)
$60 young show/breeding stock and older but still productive buns
$75 and up for adults show/breeding w\full pedigrees
Grand Champ or exceptional quality stock is generally $100 and up

To help with the cost of shipping we can ship senior does already bred.

Rabbits will not be shipped when temps exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit (30°C). or if temperature is forecast to be below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures for any touch down point in the itinerary must be within acceptable range on most airlines. There are a few airlines who will ship regardless of temperatures, but it is an additional expense.

I can ship anywhere from 1 to 20 rabbits and still be under the required weight limit.

I DO NOT EXPORT OVER SEAS

Here are just a few comments from folks I have sold and shipped to:

9/10/02 Dear Danna,
The buns have arrived safe & sound. All R great :) After a quick look at the paper work, think 1B will be a good match with the chin buck. I like the Chin buck best. Great hindquarters, bold eye & heavy ears. I plan on using him from now on. I'm sure U must have noticed his outgoing personality.:) The little black buck is promising & I was delighted to see that I also have his parents. Thanks Danna.

6/26/02 I must admit that I was fearful of shipping rabbits over 1000 miles via passenger airlines. My husband even asked me, "Do you have to buy a seat for EACH rabbit, or can they all sit together?"

Receiving Live Freight through Alaska Airlines was so easy and that's amazing considering we used San Jose International Airport (one of California's busiest). There was no need to fight long lines at the main terminals or park in long/short term parking after paying a huge parking fee. The fright office is on the other side of the airport and has separate, free parking. As long as your name is on the list and you show proper identification, airport personnel are happy to give "bunnies" proper treatment. When we arrived early, they told us the plane had just landed 30 minutes early and they made a special trip across the airport and get them for us. It was such a blast to see a crate of rabbits moving across the payment on a huge forklift.

Thanks again for packing our new rabbits up so well and safe in the transport cages. They arrived with food and water still in the dishes! I know we will do bunny business again!

10/1/02 Hi ya Danna, Just a note to let you know how J3 is doing down here in Salinas, CA. He is in the most beautiful show shape and is actually beating himis at the shows for BOG/BOSG. We have received so much attention for the oranges around here.

My children are so excited about showing rabbits for 4H this year, and we decided upon the Netherland Dwarfs from Island Gems Rabbitry in Washington. We had alot of questions, being new to the rabbit world, and Danna kindly answered every one. She seemed genuinely interested in helping us make the decision best for us. After much correspondence, we ordered 4 rabbits and had them shipped to us in Indianapolis. We received our new bunnies in excellent condition and could not be happier! They were clean and comfortable in their carrier, and settled in to their new home nicely. We would definitely do it all over again!

Anna and Matthew...Way to go!!

UPDATE: 7/14/02
Hi Danna, Thought you would like to know that the orange senior buck you sent to us, won Grand Champion for the Fancy breeds at the rabbit show tonight! Anna and Matthew are thrilled, of course! What a fun first time they had! All 4 of the bunnies got blue ribbons and honor ribbons. The judge was really taken with the orange buck and said he had never seen an orange that good. He kept showing him around to people.

"I ordered 9 rabbits from Island Gems Rabbitry and had them shipped from Seattle to Boston. I was a little nervous about them arriving safely since it was a 9 hour flight, and the temperature in Boston was in the twenties. There was a short wait from the time that the plane was due to land until the bunnies arrived at the cargo desk, but half an hour after the flight's scheduled arrival time later I opened the top of their shipping "Stable" to find them all safe and sound, and cute as buttons!
