  • Ear carriage
    Ears set high on the head in direct line with front feet.
    Held upright and close together.
    Round tips, good furring and thickness. Ears balance with head and body.
    Ears set too far back on the skull resulting in the ears laying back instead of being held upright.
    Ears set too far apart on the skull resulting in a helicopter effect
    Ears are too large to balance with head and body
    Ear Substance
    Thick short and round, well furred.
    Ears lacking thickness letting the ear fold at the tips.

    Head Placement
    Good head set - high and close to the shoulders
    Bad

    Head set too low and out in front of chest and legs

    Bad

    Head set too far back on shoulders

    Skull shape
    Good round head from any view. Curve from the base of the ear around the nose shows no break.
    Bad

    You can see the break in the arc above the nose that detracts from the total round effect that is desirable.

    Round head, good width between eyes
    Bad

    Head is narrow and tapered, insufficient width between eyes.

    SHOULDER DEPTH
    Good

    Nice deep shoulders, no neck, short stocky front legs

    Bad

    Lacking depth in the shoulders

    Bad

    Head set too low on shoulders resulting in a dip at the nape of the neck.

    SHOULDER WIDTH
    Nice wide shoulders. Shoulder width the same as midsecton and back end. Shows no taper on sides.
    Bad

    Narrow shoulders. Narrow in front tapering to wider hind end.

    MIDSECTION
    Good rise to the midsection. Peak of the back in correct position. Short cobby body
    Too long in the midsection. Peaks too soon
    Flat over the back. No rise to the midsection.

    HIND END
    Well filled hindquarters
    Back end is undercut, or pinched
